400s in Los Gatos

After yet another long day in the Bay Area, I had to get up early and run outside today. I got up at 4:45 and went to meet a local group that works out in Los Gatos. It is about a 20 minute drive south of Santa Clara where I am staying. The group meets at Los Gatos high school on Tues/Thursday. The coach of the group proposed 8x400 for the workout which was fine with me. I wasn't up for 2000s on the track. We did a mile warmup on the track and then headed out for the repeats. I wasn't able to get in my usual Gazelle drills so I didn't really push the pace to start. My first two repeats really sucked as far as time goes. The last 6 were more in my range and it was nice to end with a fast one. The 3 other folks were faster than me so I chased them through all 8 repeats. I did a 1.5 mile cool down on the track and then headed back to my hotel to get ready for another long day. I did another ice bath for my ankle, stretched, and then did some abs and pushups.

Repeats - 1:34.7, 1:37.54, 1:32.97, 1:32.86, 1:31.97, 1:33.16, 1:31.46, 1:28.26
Average - 1:32.9

Stats - 5.15 miles

That's cool that you have an alternate group to meet with for the hard work of speed when you're in Cali.
